Dropping hit after hit in 2020, it’s safe to say that the 19-year-old sensation, Lourdiz, has all the intangibles to be one of music’s most popular new artists. Preparing us for her forthcoming project, the “Suicide Down” hitmaker draws us in once again with her new single, titled, “Somersault.”
At the helm is 6lack and Roddy Ricch director, JMP. In the clip, Lourdiz stars as the pride and joy of her neighborhood with the community coming out to support her thriving music career. The singer known for collaborations with popular rappers Lil Gotit and Jon Z says in her latest press release the song was initially inspired by family.
“Growing up in the hood, I learned early to keep my eyes wide open and my mouth shut: no habla inglés. When I wrote ‘Somersault’, the first line ‘can’t keep my eyes closed’ speaks to that and my present journey living in LA now. I have to be sharp all the time to figure out my surroundings and what’s my next move.”
2020 has been buzzworthy for the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Dallas native and it all started with her trailblazing debut single “I’m Pissed.” “Suicide Down” her widespread hit, other noteworthy releases this year is “Ground Control” and “Good Intentions.” Lourdiz’s forthcoming debut album is promised for a 2021 release.
